Punjabi University is celebrating as eleven talented sportspersons from the Institute have been selected to participate in the prestigious ‘World University Games 2023’ to be held at Chengdu, China from July 28 to August 8, 2023. The varsity athletes are ready to perform. By being adept in various genres, they are making their mark on the global stage.
The University’s volleyball team is participating in the ‘World University Games’ for the first time, and two outstanding players, Sumedha and Shukla Purna Deepakbhai, have earned their places in the team. With an exceptional talent pool, the team is determined to make its presence felt and shine at the international event.
In addition, the Punjabi University archery team will be represented by four accomplished archers – Avneet Kaur, Tanisha Verma, Sangampreet Singh Bisla and Aman Saini. Meanwhile, the university’s badminton team has two promising players Miraba Luang Masnam and Harshit Thakur, while Shiksha Baloria will compete in fencing. Neer and Ajay Kumar will proudly represent the university in Taekwondo discipline.
Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University Prof. Arvind and Sports Director Prof. Ajitha extended her hearty congratulations to the selected athletes while wishing them all the very best for their successful and outstanding performance in the ‘World University Games 2023’.
Adding to the accolades, Punjabi University has got the opportunity to lead the Judo and Table Tennis teams sent by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for the Games. Professor Ajita, the distinguished Sports Director of the University, has been entrusted with the prestigious responsibility of being the team leader for these additional sports disciplines.
