Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi has received a significant approval from the Central Government, paving the way for the establishment of a medical college on its campus. The announcement was made by Vice-Chancellor Professor Najma Akhtar during the centenary convocation of the university held on July 23. This development is a major milestone in Jamia’s commitment to enhance healthcare education and research.

Apart from the approval of the medical college, VC Najma Akhtar revealed another ambitious plan – Jamia Millia Islamia University aims to set up an international campus in the Middle East. The strategic move aims to expand the global footprint of the university and promote intercultural collaboration.

Over 12,500 students, including gold medalists for the academic years 2019 and 2020, were awarded degree-diplomas at the Centenary Convocation. Dignitaries including Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan graced the event at Vigyan Bhawan.

The ceremony also paid tribute to the visionary words of Zakir Hussain, former President of India, highlighting the importance of education in shaping a prosperous and ethically driven society. His words continue to inspire and resonate in the pursuit of knowledge in Jamia.
