A Journey of Excellence and Expertise
Prof. Anil Kumar Tripathi’s journey of academic excellence began at BHU, where he earned his B. Sc., M. Sc., and Ph.D. in Botany. His dedication to advancing knowledge led him to the position of Professor of Biotechnology at the Institute of Science in 2002. In February 2019, he took on the mantle of Director, Institute of Science, steering the institute towards new horizons.
A Legacy of Contribution
With a career spanning over three decades, Prof. Tripathi’s influence has resonated across multiple dimensions. He has been a stalwart in teaching, research, and administration. Notably, he served as the Coordinator for the School of Biotechnology, Centre for Bioinformatics, and the Interdisciplinary School of Life Sciences at BHU. From 2014 to 2019, he held the prestigious role of Director at the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP), Lucknow, where his visionary leadership laid the foundation for CSIR’s Aroma Mission.
A Passion for Exploration and Discovery
Prof. Tripathi’s research interests encompass a diverse range, including bacterial diversity, genetics, functional genomics, systems biology, and synthetic biology. His scholarly pursuits have resulted in the publication of 90 research papers in esteemed peer-reviewed journals, along with supervising 22 Ph.D. theses in Biotechnology. He’s been at the helm of 18 sponsored research projects, receiving recognition for his impactful contributions.
A Global Vision
Prof. Tripathi’s impact stretches far beyond national boundaries. He has shared his insights in conferences across India and in 25 countries abroad. His leadership extended to representing India in important international delegations, demonstrating his commitment to global collaboration and knowledge exchange.
A Multifaceted Laureate
Prof. Anil Kumar Tripathi’s contributions have been acknowledged by prestigious fellowships and awards. He is a J C Bose National Fellow and a Fellow of renowned institutions such as the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc), National Academy of Sciences (NASI), and National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS). He has received awards including the UGC-BSR Mid-Career Award, Prof B D Tilak Lecture Award (INSA), and the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Research at BHU.
