In a significant collaboration, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the “Kalipatnapu Foundation” to establish 40 scholarships dedicated to undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing Chemistry programs within the Institute of Science.
The Kalipatnapu Foundation is contributing a generous sum of Rs. One Crore to endow these scholarships as a heartfelt tribute to the late Shri Kalipatnapu Kondiah. Shri Kalipatnapu Kondiah was an esteemed alumnus of BHU, having completed his BSc and MSc from the university. He subsequently embarked on a remarkable academic journey, serving as a faculty member in the Chemistry Department at BHU from 1922 to 1941. His dedication and expertise led him to the position of Head of the Chemistry Department during his tenure.
Shri Kalipatnapu Kondiah’s legacy goes beyond academics. In 1941, he wholeheartedly joined the Freedom Movement, demonstrating his commitment to India’s independence. His unyielding dedication resulted in a five-year imprisonment. To honor his incredible contributions, the Kalipatnapu Foundation was established by his family.
The foundation’s inception was significantly influenced by Shri Kalipatnapu Kondiah’s daughter, the late Smt. Indira Devi. It was realized with the generous support and patronage of his son, Dr. Indusekhar Rao Kalipatnapu, along with his granddaughter Kiranmai Kalipatnapu and grandson Chaitanya Kalipatnapu.
This remarkable collaboration is set to empower students in the field of Chemistry, providing deserving individuals with the means to pursue their educational aspirations and uphold the legacy of Shri Kalipatnapu Kondiah.
