Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has appointed Professor Sharmin Khan, an accomplished academician in the field of architecture, as the Chairperson of the Department of Architecture. The appointment is effective from December 28, 2023, and spans a tenure of three years.

Prof. Sharmin Khan holds a distinguished academic background, having completed her M. Tech in Construction Engineering and Management from IIT Delhi. She earned her Ph.D. and B. Arch degrees from AMU, where she now assumes a leadership role. Prior to her current position, Prof. Khan served as a faculty member at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.

Bringing a wealth of experience in teaching, research, and administration, Prof. Sharmin Khan specializes in areas such as construction management, sustainable architecture, and the history of architecture. Her academic contributions extend beyond the classroom, with authorship and editorial roles in over five books, and the publication of more than 21 research papers in esteemed, peer-reviewed journals.

Additionally, Prof. Khan actively participates in the scholarly community, serving on editorial boards and review panels for various research journals. Her expertise has been showcased through presentations at over 25 national and international seminars and conferences.
