In a significant development, Prof. D. C. Rai from the Department of Dairy Science and Food Technology at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
Prior to this prestigious role, Prof. Rai served as the Founding Head (HOD) of the Department of Dairy Science & Food Technology at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University since October 30, 2019 and Former Head, Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU.
Notably, he played a pivotal role in establishing world-class infrastructure in the Department of Dairy Science & Food Technology at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Under his leadership, BHU initiated professional programs in Dairy Technology and Food Technology.
Prof. Rai’s academic prowess is underscored by his various roles, including serving on the Executive Council of Mahatma Gandhi Antarrastriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya and as Visitor’s Nominee in multiple Central Universities. His contributions extend to national and international collaborations, with notable initiatives such as facilitating MoUs between BHU and universities in the USA and Iran.
Internationally recognized, Prof. Rai has presented papers at prestigious conferences and held key positions during his major international visits. Additionally, he received training in leadership at Ohio State University, USA, and served as a Visiting Professor at Cornell University.
