In a remarkable endeavour to provide hands-on learning opportunities to the students, the Department of Geography at the Bhaderwah campus of the University of Jammu (JU) has successfully concluded a 15-day Geography Tour spanning from the picturesque landscape of Kashmir to the southern tip of India. Kanyakumari. This intensive visit has equipped the students with hands-on experiences, enabling them to develop a comprehensive understanding of the diverse geographical features of the country.
During the carefully planned tour, the students had the privilege of exploring different regions of India known for their distinct geographical features. From the breathtaking valleys and serene lakes of Kashmir to the lush Western Ghats and pristine beaches of Kanyakumari, each destination offers unique insight into the country’s vast topography.
Through this experiential learning approach, students got an opportunity to see firsthand the impact of geographical factors on the environment, climate, ecosystems and human settlements. They engaged in practical exercises, conducted surveys and analyzed data to deepen their understanding of geographical phenomena and their implications.
Along with experienced faculty members, students actively participated in fieldwork including mapping exercises, topographic surveys and environmental assessments.
